My story so far…

I came into the sanctuary when my owners left me with a nice family that looked after me while they were on holiday, but they never came back for me…

I have been rehomed a few times since then but have been returned every time for different reasons. Therefore my next home must be the perfect one!

I am a high energy boy so need owners that can channel my energy in the right places, without me getting overstimulated. I can be quite cuddly once I get to know you.

Home I am looking for…

I would suit an adult only home with just one person, and as an only pet. I would not be able to be around any visiting children at all, due to my history and behaviours. I have bitten before and without effective management and persistence I could again.

I do have some protective instincts so living in a home with multiple people or visitors has not proved best for me. Though due to my recent progress at the Sanctuary with having multiple of my favourite people around me, my carers may consider placing me in a home with more than one adult as long as they are confident - and I bond with them successfully over time.

While I say a happy hello to some dogs out on walks, unfortunately I could not live with one as my protective instincts have proved too much in previous homes. I could not yet live with cats or small animals however potentially in the future, if a lot of work has been done with my behaviour, a feline friend may be okay. I love the cats here at the sanctuary, and have been very well mannered with them. I have also lived with a cat previously.

I don’t mind being left and often will just sleep, so I could be left up to 4 hours a day.

Behaviour & Training

I am brilliant with obedience training when you can channel my focus. My carers say with long walks and a good level of mental stimulation I have the potential to make an amazing companion for someone.

I have bitten before, so need experienced owners that are happy to work towards managing any behaviours that need some work or issues that we encounter in the home.

Any adopters must be willing and financially prepared to work with a behaviourist. I promise I am worth it, for a lifetime of loyal companionship!

I am muzzle trained and would need to wear my muzzle all of the time in public, as although I am very good with ignoring people, I do still pose a risk to strangers. I also need my muzzle for veterinary procedures. Positive associations with the muzzle must be kept up so that when I need my muzzle on, I am a good boy for it. My muzzle keeps me and others safe - what’s not to like?!

I love going out for long walks. I can get quite overstimulated on my walks so someone experienced and interested in further training would suit me best. My carers can give pointers and help to try and manage this.

Medical History…

I do have a sensitive tummy but my carer has found that AVA Sensitive Skin & Stomach dry food works very well for me so I must be kept on this in a home too.

Things to Note…

Any prospective owners would need to be willing to come to the sanctuary a lot and get to know me. It is likely you would have to sit outside of the kennel and ask me to do commands to begin a bond with me, a long while before you could be in a room with me.

My Triggers…

- Becoming overstimulated when out on walks by all of the sights and smells (trigger stacking)
- Resource guarding with my bowls and toys
- Two or more people being present or someone in close proximity of my person

Owners need to be familiar with the following signals, which may indicate I am not happy or a bite is to follow:

- Freezes in my body and face
- Appeasement eyes
- Growling
- Appeasement licks

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.
